EMBL is an intergovernmental organization specialized in the research in the life sciences, funded by public research funds from more than 25 member states, including much of Europe and Israel, and by two associate members, Argentina and Australia. The Italian office is located in Rome, on the research campus of the C.N.R. The regeneration intervention will involve the entire construction, allowing for an architectural enhancement of the building and manifesting the Institute’s innovative philosophy aimed at scientific progress. The new building is configured as a parallelepiped with a courtyard with transparent curtain walls and a metal solar shield that wraps around the outside. Inside, the research laboratories and offices are organized according to functional optimization criteria and proximity to the precision laser premises. Spaces for socializing are inserted along the paths and along the routes that lead to the internal courtyard. The surrounding green spaces were designed to crown the building and make the views towards the outside from the internal workplaces valuable.
