This residence was designed for a suburban area within a private residential estate in Greater Accra, near the International Airport.
The project aims to adapt the principles of sustainable architecture to the tropical climates of sub-equatorial Africa, making use of high thermal mass masonry and solar shading elements made from local wood, as well as the lush garden vegetation as a filter to mitigate the heat island effect around the building. Large sliding glass doors create a connection between the interior and exterior of the house, allowing natural ventilation to flow through the indoor spaces.
